WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Ranking Member Tim Walz (MN-01) released the following statement after the House Committee on Veterans Affairs held its first meeting of the 115th Congress:

“This Committee has always served as an example of how members from both sides of the aisle can work together to accomplish great things, and how, working together, we can fulfill our promise to the men and women who have served our country,” Rep. Walz said. “I look forward to working with Chairman Roe, and all the other members of this Committee, so that we can build upon our capacity to serve our nation’s 22 million veterans and their families.”

“I would also like to congratulate Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA) upon being elected by our Democratic colleagues to serve as this Committee’s Vice Ranking Member. He is a true public servant and has clearly demonstrated his tireless commitment to our nation’s veterans.”

“I would also like to welcome Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA) as our Committee’s newest Democratic member. I look forward to the great work we will do together to improve the lives of those who have served in uniform.”
