House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Passes 25 Bills for Veterans

Legislation builds equity for veterans, provides economic support & COVID-19 relief, and improves oversight at VA

WASHINGTON, D.C— Today, the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs held a Full Committee Markup passing all 25 bills on the agenda, including legislation to build equity for all veterans, improve mental healthcare access, provide COVID-19 relief, strengthen oversight of VA, and expand economic opportunities for veterans. By passing these bills, the Committee can advance Chairman Takano’s priorities to build a more welcoming VA, combat veteran suicide, improve educational opportunities, and provide rigorous oversight of VA. The Committee also approved its Fiscal Year 2022 Budget Views and Estimates Letter. All bill text can be found here.

 

“The bills we considered today represent a strong bipartisan effort to help veterans recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and access economic and educational opportunities with their VA benefits,” said Chairman Takano. “These bills also showcase a concerted effort to build equity and reach out to underserved veterans and those who served as allies to our country during times of war to ensure that they can access the benefits they have earned. Additionally, we discussed many strong oversight bills that will bring transparency and accountability to VA’s operations as well as key legislation to increase access to mental healthcare. I thank each and every Member for their work on these bills and for helping this Committee continue its work to advance sound policies on behalf of our nation’s veterans.”
