VIDEO RELEASE: Chairman Takano Reminds Toxic-Exposed Veterans of Their PACT Act Benefits

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  Today, as part of the Department of Veterans' Affairs PACT Week of Action, House Committee on Veterans' Affairs Chairman Mark Takano (D-Calif.) released the following video PSA reminding toxic-exposed veterans of their new benefits under his Honoring our PACT Act, which was signed into law in August.
 

 

Chairman Takano’s script as prepared:  

Hi, I’m Mark Takano, Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and Representative from California. 

Earlier this summer, President Biden signed my Honoring our PACT Act into law, a bill that extends long-overdue care and benefits to over 3.5 million veterans living with the effects of toxic exposure.  

This is the largest expansion of veterans’ benefits in decades. For years America’s veterans demanded action – and this year, Congress and President Biden delivered. 

Now, the work begins to ensure that every veteran, their families, survivors, and caregivers are aware of these monumental changes and can rightfully access the care and benefits they deserve. 

We want all toxic-exposed veterans to get the care and benefits they rightfully deserve – easily and without undue influence.    

With an influx of claims coming into VA under the PACT Act, we must remember to be wary of claim sharks and bad actors who may target and exploit veterans' benefits for financial gain.
