Ranking Member Walz Statement Following Reports of Koch Brothers Infiltration at VA

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Ranking Member Tim Walz (D-MN) released the following statement:

“The reports made in the New York Times and the Washington Post in the last 24 hours confirm what many of us in the veterans community have long speculated: that the Koch brothers and corporate interests are at the center of an effort to take over and privatize VA to make money. This behavior is disturbing, represents the worst of Washington politics, and must be brought to a swift and decisive end,” said Rep. Walz, the highest ranking enlisted servicemember to ever serve in Congress.

“Caring for veterans is more important than any person’s political ambitions or partisan agenda. If President Trump truly puts the needs of veterans above all else, as we heard him say many times on the campaign trail, he needs to act immediately to distance his administration from forces who are using him as a pawn to achieve their long-standing goal of privatizing VA for their own financial gain.”
