Acting Ranking Member Takano Applauds Passage of Veterans Omnibus and Related Legislation
Washington, D.C. – Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.), Acting Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement after the House passed a Veterans omnibus bill, the Jeff Miller and Richard Blumenthal Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2016 (H.R. 6416), as well as a series of related bills that will improve the care and support of America’s veterans.
“Today, Democrats and Republicans demonstrated once again that our responsibility to care for America’s veterans is above politics and partisanship. The omnibus legislation and related bills approved this afternoon include several bipartisan measures that will improve the lives of veterans across the country. I am grateful to my colleagues on both sides of the aisle who contributed to this effort."
In addition to the omnibus legislation, the House passed the following legislation:
- H.R. 5399 – Ethical Patient Care for Veterans Act of 2016 (Rep. Roe)
- H.R. 4150 – Department of Veterans Affairs Emergency Medical Staffing Recruitment and Retention Act, (Rep. Ruiz)
- H.R. 4352 – Faster Care for Veterans Act of 2016 (Rep. Moulton)
- S. 3492 – To designate the Department of Veterans Affairs community-based outpatient clinic in Traverse City, Michigan, as the "Colonel Demas T. Craw VA Clinic" (Sen. Peters)
- S. 3076 – Charles Duncan Buried with Honor Act of 2016 (Sen. Cotton)
