WASHINGTON – Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Ranking Member Mark Takano welcomed Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander, representing New Hampshire’s Second District, to the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Congresswoman Goodlander began her career working as a foreign policy advisor to Senator John McCain in the United States Senate. She went on to serve as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve for over a decade. After graduating from law school and serving as a law clerk to Justice Stephen Breyer on the United States Supreme Court, Maggie returned to New Hampshire to fight for the most vulnerable Granite Staters and to teach constitutional law at the University of New Hampshire and Dartmouth.

"It is an honor and a privilege to welcome Congresswoman Goodlander to our Committee. Her military background and veteran status will help inform and advance legislation to better serve our community. I look forward to the great work we will accomplish together to improve the lives of the brave men and women who have served our country," said Ranking Member Takano.

"I came to Congress to serve the people of New Hampshire and to continue a lifetime commitment to public service shaped by my family, my military service, and my work alongside veterans, servicemembers and military families. I believe deeply that Congress has a sacred obligation to those who wear the uniform and to the families who serve alongside them. I am honored to continue advancing that mission as a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee,” said Congresswoman Goodlander.
