On September 9, at 10:00 a.m. ET, the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs Democrats held a roundtable titled, "Profit Over Quality: Examining the Effects of Private Equity on Veteran Healthcare". They examined how profit-seeking behavior, including private equity (PE) acquisitions in healthcare, impacts veterans who receive care in the Community Care Network (CCN). This roundtable was an opportunity to explore the extent to which profit incentives in healthcare affect quality, access, and cost. As Congress considers the expansion of the CCN, we seek to ensure that the CCN better enables veterans to access healthcare without sacrificing care, quality, and access, and increasing costs to VA and the taxpayer, or funneling taxpayer money into bad actors' pockets.
