On Wednesday, January 29, 2020, the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs will hold an oversight hearing entitled, “Caring for Veterans in Crisis: Ensuring a Comprehensive Health System Approach.” The hearing will explore Veterans Health Administration (VHA) policies related to screening for suicide risk, care coordination for veterans at risk of suicide, the mental health environment of care on Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) campuses, and the extent to which VHA is maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for veterans experiencing mental health crises.
